My
heart is so happy today! We watched the general women´s conference yesterday
& it was so fun to sit with our recent converts for their first conference.
Hahaha it was funny to hear our new firends comments during the choir part because they all freaked out and said
“why are all of those women so blonde?!” and when they showed the presidencies they asked..“how did
all of those women plan to wear jackets in different colors?”.. these are
things that I never paid attention to, but it´s so true! I loved all of the
talks, especially President Deiter F. Uchtdorf´s talk on faith. It felt like home to see
the conference center and to hear their voices when the translator was taking
breathers.
So I have to tell yáll about Edina! Edina is a miracle! Edina owns a church (similar to an Elevate Life or Grace Avenue church in TX) and she owns a food truck that has the best French fries ever. Edina is Geovana´s mom (the teenage girl that said she looked like rhianna in her baptism clothes hahaha), and Edina was baptized yesterday! Edina started going to church with Geovana and loved the feeling of calmness and she loved relief society! She was feeling super guilty about leaving her church, but she felt like God was calling her to start attending The Church of Jesus Christ. She said a prayer during sacrament meeting last week asking if she should be baptized, and she received her answer! Tears were streaming down her face and she knew that it was truly Heavenly Father telling her she finally found where she needs to stay. Edina had a dream when she was 17 that stayed with her for her whole life, and when she told us what her dream was about, Sister Bispo and I could not believe what we were hearing. She said that in her dream she was dead and she was in front of a beautiful white building that almost looked like a castle (she later confirmed it was the Salt Lake Temple ahhh), but a man dressed in white told her very gently that she can´t enter because she is not sealed to anyone. When Edina used the word “sealed” I was like “no way how does she know this!!” Haha it was the second lesson! We told her about temples and forever families and she was amazed at this answer to her dream she had so long ago! Another fun fact: her husband and Geovana´s dad was already baptized in another part of Fortaleza 30 years ago and had not been going to church since. This family is so special and I am so amazed at God´s timing and his plan for them! The week before Edina´s baptism was a literal #babylonia bc everyone from her old church was persecuting her and telling her off and all of her “friends” were abandoning her and I was feeling so bad for her, but she was so calm about everything! She said “I have complete conscience of what I´m doing! I have an answer from God, and I need to trust in what HE is telling me to do”.
Her example of trust in the
Lord will stay with me forever! I read this scripture in Mosiah 4 this morning
and it reminds me so much of Edina
And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as you
have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if you have known of His
goodness and have tasted of His love, and have received a remission of your
sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would
that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God
and your own nothingness, and His goodness and longsuffering towards you,
unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility,
calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of
that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.
Paz do Senhor for all of yáll!!! Stay away from the bala perdida e
barruada, viu!!!!
